RPS East Anglia Exhibition at Wingfield Barns

Last Sunday I went to see this year's RPS East Anglia exhibition - the first for five years which I hadn't been involved in organising.  As always, Moira Ellice, Matt Clarke et al. had done a superb job, and the exhibition looked very impressive indeed.  The turnout wasn't too bad either, considering the remoteness of the location.

There was also a retrospective exhibition of Brian Beaney's work, ranging from darkroom monochrome prints from the '60s to his more recent digital "creations".

Since Amber always used to come with me to help at RPS exhibitions (see here and here), I though it was essential that Isla should be inducted into the tradition as soon as possible.  Like Amber she was less interested in the photography than the box of biscuits, but she was also happy to play with anyone who came through the door.

RPS East Anglia Exhibition 2016

I spent yesterday at Wingfield Barns, near Diss in Suffolk, stewarding this year's RPS East Anglia Region exhibition.  Very good it looked too, demonstrating the huge amount of work put in by Moira Ellice and her team of expert "framers" and "hangers".

As with last year, The Dumb Blonde was in position waiting for the next person to open the biscuit box...

Hughes have very kindly lent us a large screen TV for the duration of the exhibition, and this was used to display the accepted Projected Images.

We have some superb Natural History photographers in the Region, and Moira was also able to fill the foyer with a selection of stunning nature shots.

It's always a pleasure stewarding at photograpic exhibitions, and yesterday was no exception.  Although the number of visitors wasn't high, this gave plenty of opportunity to chat to everyone who came.  Roll on the opening of next year's exhibition at The Apex in Bury St Edmunds.

RPS East Anglia Exhibition at Wingfield Barns

I spent the whole of yesterday at Wingfield Barns, near Diss in Suffolk, stewarding at this year's RPS East Anglia Members' Exhibition.  Wingfield is a wonderful venue for an exhibition, given its large rooms, white(ish) walls and diffuse lighting; but, given its remote location, there isn't much in the way of "passing trade"!  Still, lots of people made the effort to come and see the exhibition, which looked absolutely stunning thanks to the efforts of Moira Ellice (the Region's Exhibition Co-ordinator) and her team.

As can be seen in several of the pictures, Amber (aka "The Dumb Blonde") was also on duty as a steward, paying particular attention to anyone who happened to be eating a biscuit!

This is Moira, looking justifiably pleased with the way the exhibition looked.

Amber "on duty" by the biscuit box.

There was a second exhibition of East Anglian nature and landscape prints by local RPS members in the entrance hall.

A couple of final shots showing the two exhibition rooms.

There are some absolutely superb images on show, and well worth the journey to deepest Suffolk.  The exhibition itself is open from Wednesday to Sunday, 11:00-16:00, and runs until Sunday 25th October.
