After a period of some good Scottish weather on the journey back from St Abbs, the storm clouds cleared and the sun came out. Since Kelso was en route we decided to drop by and have a look. The town is more attractive than I remember it from my visit back in 1980, with many of the streets in the centre being cobbled. The first two shots show the town hall and the (apparently obligatory) Turkish Barbers. Why there are so many Turkish Barbers in Scotland - or why they are so popular - remains a mystery.
My recollection of Kelso Abbey was more accurate than the town, in that there's very little remaining of the structure; and, that which does remain is hemmed in by other buildings. On the plus side it was both open and free!
