Scotland 2019 13: Pittenweem

While spending a couple of hours looking around the Scottish Fisheries Museum (highly recommended), the weather took a distinct turn for the worse.  No idyllic sunset sitting by the harbour eating world-beating fish and chips on this evening, unfortunately.  Instead we went along the coast to Pittenweem - of witch fame - to check out The Dory, a restaurant which had been recommended to us.  Just as well we reserved a table, since the place was deservedly packed in the evening.

It was a real pity about the weather, as Pittenweem is another of the small, attractive fishing communities along the south coast of Fife's East Neuk.  Definitely a place worth revisiting.

Low Light Workshop

Fortified by our afternoon off, our intrepid band got well wrapped up against the cold wind and headed for the Pea Stacks, a group of rocks at the South-East corner of Guernsey.  A beautiful location, but the sun was setting rapidly and would soon cast the rocks in shadow.  Some people managed to take pictures of the scene while others were still working out what to do with their cameras!

We then moved around to St Peter Port harbour, where the docks and Castle Cornet looked spectacular in the twilight.

By this time, many of our troop had left the harbour for the relative shelter of the bathing pools.  I decided to follow, as the moon had come up by this point.  The rest of the images were taken around the bathing pools exclusively by moonlight.

By this point (around 10:30) we had all lost touch with our respective fingers and toes, so headed back home to warm up a bit. 

St Peter Port Harbour

Our last full day in Guernsey was probably the best as far as the weather was concerned.  Warm sun, but with a gentle cooling breeze off the sea, fluffy white clouds, and very clear.  I spent the morning wandering around the harbour in St Peter Port taking pictures.  To give a sense of the place, here is a panorama taken from one of the jetties.

Guernsey is clearly a play area for rich people, given the number of luxury boats in the harbour and the preponderance of "Wealth Management" companies.

By this point is was starting to get busy - and warm - so I decided to head into the Town Church to escape from the crowds and cool down.  I couldn't resist my favourite blue postbox before doing so, however.
